Re: made a mistake with Halloween

I got mine up a little late . . . this past Sunday. Will tweak and put final touches to them tomorrow. Which will be the table . . . ordered a purple satin tablecloth that I received yesterday and a Heritage Lace Spiderweb tablecloth in black lace that I received Wednesday . . . . so do that and then set the table. Bought candy yesterday to fill the cauldron.

No children in our neighborhood and the idiot grinches who run our HOA will not open the gates for trick or treat so no reason to decorate.

Did you know that when you moved there? They often have a reason for not allowing it,,.....it can block emergency vehicles......and to answer the OP.....I decorate for fall, thanks for the reminder.....Smile

Re: made a mistake with Halloween

I need to find a bigger Halloween tree. Right now just have one from Costco, branches covered in black seed beads . . . and glass ornaments but I have many, many more ornaments and the base it a little lighted haunted house with orange bulb . . . came with two . . . flashing or constant lit.

I'm thinking maybe a Bethany Lowe black feather tree but a 48" or 60" gets a little spendy. I have some containers of cute candy corn garland I picked up a couple of years ago @ TJ Maxx or Marshall's. And then hand tie each glass ornament on the branches with purple 1/8" satin ribbon or a combination of some orange and some purple. And a couple of packages of 2" diameter Martha Stewart glitter ball ornaments of various shades of purple for filler. Just not finding the "right" larger tree for Halloween.

Re: made a mistake with Halloween

Quackertoo. I bought a big 6ft Halloween tree a few years ago at KMart they sold these trees they are black and are wired limbs off of each branch there are orange icicle lights hanging off each limb. Some of the limbs have beautiful pumpkins hanging off the light so the light up. it is such a sharp looking tree and it looks just like a orange Christmas tree in my bay window because it is so full. I add fall silk leaves in some of the wire branches and hang other fall decorations on it. I also take the silk leaves and hang them in my window at different lengths with fishing wire. It looks like leaves are falling during the day and at night the leaves show up with the tree. I liked this tree so much that I bought two of them. Also went on line and found a place that sold orange icicle lights that twinkle so they are hanging off our front porch. I love to decorate for fall and Halloween.

Re: made a mistake with Halloween

On a whim I stopped by K-Mart today, the only around here for many miles and they've really cut back on their Halloween decorations . . . so no luck there. I might try Pier One this weekend.

Re: made a mistake with Halloween

Quackertoo, I have not seen those trees again any where and believe me I am all over different sites looking for decorations. I think I only paid $29 or $39. for the tree. I made my sister, girlfriend and niece go and buy one. I am the only one who really puts mine up faithfully every year. I would say this tree probably has over 500 lights on it. if I ever see another one I will give a yell out and tell you. My problem is that for many years I have collected for different holidays and now I could decorate 10 different homes for every holiday.

Re: made a mistake with Halloween

Wow. I could maybe decorate 10 homes for Christmas but not all the other holidays! I could probably decorate 2-3 homes for Easter. haha and Just enough for 1 home for Halloween though . . . and Thanksgiving. But I have enough turkey platters to fix multiple turkey's and serve . . . smoked, wild and regular . . . maybe I should get another for a fried turkey! Smiley Happy

Please IF you ever see one like it give me a shout out. I may have seen a nice one at KMart several years ago and hesitated . . . and I think I even went back a few days later after thinking about it and they were GONE!
