little green dots

When I come to Community, I don't sign in,,,,,nowhere does it say to sign in. thus those little green dots don't change for me when or if I respond OR doesn't let me know if there is a new reply. Any (simple thing I'm not doing??? I'm simple). just a little thing that annoys me (like a million other things). I loved when it used to work for me. thanks for any replies.
