The "official" line of succession, descendents of King George V, can be ranked to 63.

Some genealogists have compiled a ranked list of over 5,750!

I guess that the tabloid known as The Sun is all over this and will be issuing their "confirmation" any day.

Re: line of succession

You're right.  I was reading the chart from left to right and not noticing the number sequences.  Thanks.

In case you're interested but why is Lillibeth before Archie in this chart?

She's not.  She is number 7.  Archie is number 6.

Camilla is currently Queen Consert, meaning she is the wife of the king.  When Charles dies she will become Queen Dowager if she outlives him, meaning the widow of the king.  In neither case does she ever rule.

Catherine will go through the identical series if she is alive when William becomes king and outlives him.

It's a wee bit unnerving to see on the chart, how close Prince Andrew is to the throne-- number 8!    Of course, that's not really close.  There would have to be quite a horrible family catastrophe wiping out a large portion of the family for him to succeed Charles.  Too bad, in my opinion, for Prince Edward to be so far down the line, # 14, even after Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's children.   Edward strikes me as someone who would comport himself much as his mother, Queen Elizabeth did.

Lucky that William is so steady.  He's been out and about since his father's diagnosis, graciously acknowledging the well wishes about Charles and Catherine, and perfoming the public duties that would normally fall to Charles.  It must be a source of comfort and reassuring to his father.

If Catherine outlives William she will be titled Queen Mother.

Prince William, taking over his father's usual duties at an investiture ceremony--  conferring over 50 honors to various individuals.  Good practice for when its his turn on the throne:

Diana would have been proud. I also bet that she would have found a way to keep her kids from having the falling out that they did if at all possible.

This was William's first royal duty after returning from his hands-on care of the children while Kate is recovering. He does seem well-suited for his position. Stiff upper lip, and all that....I agree that his mother would be very proud, as well as his grandmother.

There are several British tabloids that are swooning.
