Re: latest data breach-how long are consumers going to put up with this?

Hello, dooBdoo. Sorry you have a hobble. {#emotions_dlg.sad} Feel better soon.

This band of hackers are even scarier than most -- no telling how far reaching this is. I keep the bare minimal info stored anywhere online. I've changed all my passwords, because, well... that's all we can do on our end. The hackers can naturally breach the systems on the other end, where all the passwords are stored and there we are: utter mayhem. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Hi, dear WaJa61! I've missed your posts.

Thanks for the good wishes. I hurt my back yesterday, it'll take a bit of time to heal.

I know, this new evidence of hacking will (I hope) get the websites busier working on security and will (I hope) convince more people to pay attention to "safe surfing."

That's interesting DooB. First time I've seen edited for a while. A little while ago I edited a post I made yesterday but it doesn't reflect having been edited.

The world of hackers is VERY COMPETITIVE ....... and the "Holy Grail" of hacking is, you guessed it, Facebook ...... and the day is coming when some super hacker is going to penetrate FB ...... and send in a virus that will not only infect your computer, but EVERYONE IN YOUR CONTACT BOOK ...... {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Can you imagine a virus infestation that hits millions (or hundreds of millions?) of devices and bring them all crashing down. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

The day will come ..... I've no doubt that somebody is working on that right now! {#emotions_dlg.crying}

I haven't seen it in a while either. Not sure why it popped up just now, for that particular post. Weird.

I'm glad they removed the "editing" notations for reported posts (I think it was causing too much consternation{#emotions_dlg.laugh}), but I wish they would reinstate it for those we edit ourselves. It's my opinion, but I prefer it to be notated when a post has actually been changed by its author.

I couldn't agree more. If a poster edited their own post it should be marked as such.

It seems so obvious that a post should indicate if the author edited it. That's really puzzling that your post has that notation, dooB.

Re: latest data breach-how long are consumers going to put up with this?

What I found interesting is that the person who discovered this breach is, according to the associated press, the chief information officer of Hold Security and originally from Kiev. He stated to date Hold Security has only seen the Russian hackers use the data to spam social media - i.e hijacking a twitter account to post a weight loss ads. Sounds kind of like this company is trying to prey on mass hysteria to the benefit of their company.
