@Marp wrote:@newjersey, the SSA has been sending out notices about new benefit amounts but I believe you have to be a subscriber.
My notification was sent as follows: subscription.service@subscriptions.ssa.gov
I would be suspicious of the email you received and most definitely would not download anything from a link in that email.
That's the one I got but when it said amounts won't be available until December I deleted it.

I received an email about s.s. statement. I sighed up for email notifications. It was sent from the ss gov website but there was not a download link. I signed into my account and I received a sigh in code on my phone. There are a few security choices you can add to in addition to just logging in.

I would not answer the phone to strange numbers , since some might be trying to record your voice.
AI can reproduce your voice

This was my experience. Everything was legitimate.

That is a scam! If you tap on the sender's name you will see that it is not from ssa.gov. I got that same email and blocked the sender.
Eta As an additional security note, we should never open a link in an email where we have to log in and provide sensitive information. Just go to the official website if you want to check something or get a statement.

No, if it was government, it would not have a dotnet. It would be gov or org

I got an email supposely from the USPS regarding a delivery and the ending of the address was also cox.net. Wanted me to download to see the attachment. Of course I didn't do that. I am sure it is a scam.
