Does anyone have experience or comments on the Roomba that is the special on HSN today?  It seems to be a good deal at half off for this model.

@cherrywood   I join you in this inquiry....I have recently developed an AVERSION to vaccuuming.

I have a Dyson and will keep it but if I could feel sure that this Roomba thing would really work with the assurance that I would be able to set it up myself with an app EASILY, I would consider buying it.  Thanks so much!

This model on is Amazon.  It is $50 more there and has over 1,000 reviews.  That being said, it only has 3.1 stars.  Personally, I would skip this model every day all day long. It doesn't have lidar (radar) or a camera.  It uses a gyroscope to go back and forth.  My very first one was like that, and while I was happy with it at the time, after I had one with lidar, I would never go back to a gyroscope.  And my lidar Roborock vacuum costs less than this model.

Granted, mine does not have a docking station, but I don't want one!  Eventually, the docking station has to be emptied, and besides that, I like to vacuum (with my handheld vac) the filter to keep it working well when I dump the trash bin.  My robovac has a large trashbin, so I don't have to empty it every time, but even if I did, it is so easy, that having a docking station has no benefit for me.

I'll include screenshots from Amazon of the robovac you're considering as well as the Roborock that I have.  Mine has a huge sale price right now!  I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

@Ainhisg   GREAT INFO!!

2 questions:

1) How was the setup?  Was it easy?

2) Does your model operate through a phone app?

Thanks so much.  I also have a handheld vac and a Dyson (as I mentioned)

1) Yes, it was easy. There are even a couple of YouTube videos that show how to set it up.

2) yes, it can operate through the phone app. I usually start mine manually by just pressing the button on top, and then later on if I need to check how it is doing, I use the app. Or if I'm going to just clean one room, I use the app.

if you use YouTube, later on tonight when I have a bit more time, I can screenshot a couple of the YouTube videos that I watched to help me learn how to use it if you'd like me to do so. They were very helpful. You could watch them first to see how easy you think one would be to own.

@Ainhisg   If you could grab a few of those screenshots, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm going to put the machine you recommend in my Amazon cart and leave it there until I decide to buy it.  I think the price is certainly right AND if, for any reason, it doesn't work out, I can easily return it and get a full refund, UNLIKE would be the case at HSN.

Again, thanks very much!!

@pdlinda @cherrywood here you go!  Just look the names of these videos up on YouTube and watch away!  It will be worth your time.  As an aside, the Roborock does have the option of a self-emptying dock, but it does add to the cost.  I'll post a screen shot of it, too.

The first robot vacuum I bought was a Roborock after I had done a TON of research.  I bought a basic model with the gyroscope like the HSN TS has.  I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread!  We had two dogs at the time, and I ran that thing three times a week for three years.  Lots and lots of dog hair and my hair, too!  By the end of three years, the battery was starting to weaken, and sometimes it wouldn't get our house done on a full charge. (1679 sq feet)  So last fall (again after much research), I bought the one I have now with lidar.  It was a good price, and I love it as much as I loved the first one.

I've been very happy with the Roborock brand, and they even have their own Facebook community where people can post questions and get responses from other users.  I will say that I do have to clean the ends of the rollers on my new one after each vacuuming.  I have long hair, and what hair isn't sucked up, migrates to the ends of the rollers.  The end pieces pop off, and I then remove the "spool" of hair. HTH!

PS...I have never used the mop function and can't imagine it would work well at all on the less expensive models like the one I have.

Thank you for all the info, @Ainhisg .  I was ready to purchase this, but when I read the reviews, the only good ones were by people that the product was given to them.

I really want something like this, but I will check out the Youtubes on the one you purchased and make a decision.  I would rather not have to use WiFi.
