My adult kids and 2 teen grandkids have iPhones. They all take care of them. But it seems every time theres an issue its not covered.
My son had this happen 4X over the years. Now he has the newest iPhone and it wont charge past 4%. He bought a new charger and all, no dice. Now theyre telling him oh it got dirty at work and want him to pay again. (Its NOT covered even though he paid for the coverage) Its in his locker at work in another part of his job, it didn't get dirty at work.
So now he told them hes done with their iPhone, when his contract is up hes going Android.
My daughter right now has no sound (but she has one of the 4's, not the new one) and my oldest G- daughter lost video. (she has a 4 too) Again they make excuses at the store that its not covered. Another time they said my G-daughters phone got wet. My son in law said that's a lie. So then they said oh the shower steam must have gotten in it. lol.
Always an excuse and what my son and all always did is wait till the contract is up if they can put up with whats wrong with the phone and upgrade which is what I feel they want you to do. They never want to cover the repairs even if you PAY for coverage.
It makes you wonder. And I have a relative that works for Verizon wireless and they only buy Android due to the above issues. And my son in law wont buy an iPhone only Android, even though the kids and his wife (my daughter) have iPhones.
So I was wondering if anyone here had issues with them if something happened to your phone?

I've had both the iPhone 4 and currently have the 5 and haven't had any weird issues.... so far.

I have never had a problem with my iPhone. Due to Android having less than wonderful photo apps -- I am sticking with iPhone when I upgrade.

I'm on my 3rd year with my iPhone and have had no problems at all. I bought an Otterbox case right off the bat and no worries, even though I have dropped it to many times to count. I don't buy the insurance either. Upgrade time I will stick with the iPhone.

No problems with mine either. I have the 5 though.

HH post was poofed and I was about to agree with it.
DH and I each have iPhones, step-son as well, none of us ever had a problem with any of them that we couldn't figure out ourselves (and was usually our own fault in the first place). It does sound like a heck of a lot of iphone issues in the OP. Like HH asked - why did the AT&T person think shower steam got into a phone - did they put it on the sink or something while showering?

I don't have an Iphone but a good friend of mine has the IPhone 4 and was just having a bunch of problems with it. She went to the Apple store and they told her it seemed to be a hardware problem and that she should go to Verizon and see if she had insurance on it and what they would do.
She went to Verizon, they also told her it was a hardware issue, she did have the insurance and they gave her a brand new phone, without any issue.

Our son and DIL have had iPhones since their inception. Once, one of them had a lemon. The Apple store replaced it. They only deal with 1 store and are good customers. The sales staff seems to want to keep them happy.
