@Misplaced Parisian Aw, that's so sweet. I've never been called a little cabbage or cream puff, depending on the translation but I like it. I once looked up the meaning and the significance of cabbages and roses and storks, very sweet story.

Although I have 3 close friends that are like sisters to me, and am close to my sister, I always loved to get together with my mom....whether it was checking out our favorite book store, or visiting quaint shops we had so much fun...especially the holidays, we loved to decorate our homes for Christmas, bake cookies, and shop and just being together....There are special ornaments and a couple of Christmas pieces that I inherited when she passed that always bring a few tears to my eyes when I bring them out each year...

I sure do miss her.....Smiley Sad

@Love my grandkids  To the French it means "my little sweetheart".  I adore the phrase and use it for people who have touched my heart.  Smiles.

Yes this post is so poignant for me, too. I lost my mother just over 4 years ago and it has been so difficult. I miss her every day. She was the closest person to me. The only comfort, and it's a huge one, is in knowing she doesn't suffer anymore. For that I'm so grateful. Thanks for this opportunity to express! I'm lucky to have family and friends though we're all scattered now, but still miss my mother so terribly. Holidays are tough.

@Spurt , It's hard, but at least we have good memories, have a great holiday. ❤️🎄❤️

It bothers me that my memories are fading away as the years progress.  But it may be a good thing too in that so many of my memories are of happy times spent with family and friends during the holidays.  When I smell the sweet aroma of Christmas cookies I smile at the memory of making goodies with my Mother and Grandmother.  I choose to believe that this memory makes them smile too up in Heaven.  How fortunate that we can all get such happiness from these memories, wherever we may be..

I get very sad around the holidays and this year seems especially bad.

This will be the 10th holiday season since my Mom died and it has not been easier as time passes. My brother, who is only 48, has been very sick and I am not sure of how much time he has left.I am praying for a miracle for him.

I have mobility issues right now, (hoping to get this resolved in the new year) so it has been difficult for me to get get around and enjoy anything holiday related. I guess I am hosting my own personal pity party. And I know that is not right, I should be positive and thankful for so many things, but it just doesn't feel "good" right now.

My Mom made the holidays so special for my family and I would give anything for just one more minute with her.

I tried to spend as much time with my grandmother that I could when I was a child.  She was my rock and so very dear to me.

My grandmother, her sister and I would get get "dressed up" to go to our local town to do Christmas shopping.  It was so much fun to ride the streetcar there.  Of course, growing up in Pittsburgh it would most likely be snowing.

The town, lamposts and windows were decorated and so beautiful.  I remember looking at it all in awe.  After we did our shopping, we went to Isaly's for ice cream or hot chocolate.

It makes me sad to think those times are so distant but they will remain with me forever.
