hoarding question

My father in law has been taken to a rehab hospital after a fall.. no one could get ahold of him and friend went to his house and found him, they called ambulance and he is in rehab hospital. My problem is that he has not left anyone come to his house for years.. always an excuse (of course we see that now) thought he was just trying to save us from driving so far.. he lives close to 4 hrs from us and would always meet us at grandmas house.. well he is a hoarder.. my husband said house is full of beer bottles etc etc.. pipe had broke didnt even have running water.. He is an alcoholic (functioning) or at least always appeared to us as functioning.. He is in right place now of course wants to check himself out.. all of his friends are of course drinking buddies..

how do we begin to tackle this house.. honestly needs bulldozed down.. its like I am living between intervention and hoarders

would appreciate any advice..
