My old lab has had long nails with long quicks her whole life. She always wore them down or kept them groomed herself, but now that she is almost 14 that is not the case. They say if you take a bit off every two weeks or month the quicks recede...it has never worked for her. I have been diligently cutting off the tips and dremeling since November, I swear they never get any shorter and I quick her every time I cut off the tip at least twice.
Whenever they are done at the Vet, or of all horrors I have gone to PetCo (can't anymore because she is no longer up to date on vaccines and won't be) they quick her at least 5 or 6 times, they can never get them short either. Its a good thing most of her nails are white and you can mostly see the quick, although she does have two black ones.
Any suggestions...it is so frustrating and I am sure her long nails don't help her confidence when it comes to the wood floors.
