Appreciate the responses. Yeah, I know it's not a pain reliever...lol I don't have ostearthritis and I don't have any bone issues but I do have knee pain and stiffness. My new orthopod suggested GC might help rebuild the cartilage which would alleviate the pain and stiffness.

If that is what your orthopod suggested? Knee pain is about like back pain in that there can and are many difference causes for the pain. Just like back pain what works for one type of pain(injury)will not work on pain coming from a different source.

There are a lot of exercises that can and do help many reduce, and sometimes eliminate knee pain. From my own experience with Patella Tendonitis I learned through Bio-Feedback how to contract the VMO muscle groups before the contraction of the quadriceps muscle group, and this along with some specific exercises greatly helped my particular problem.

I also believed in supporting the Patella Tendon while running/skating and this too completely relieved some pain I previously felt when running or skating. It involved taking a tightening strap off one of my protective shin pads, and putting it real tight right underneath my patella tendon. I suggest this to someone over on the Health and Fitness Forum also.

This worked for myself and many other runners I met over the years that were also having this same type of problem. Now torn tissue in the knee joint? Whole different thing.

Re: glucosamine chondroitin question

I took it for several months for osteoarthritis and it did absolutely nothing for me, but I do think it has helped two of my older dogs who were having trouble getting up.

Re: glucosamine chondroitin question

DH took it for years. Stopped. Noticed NO difference. My DB swears by it.

IF you have any kidney issues (ie stones) stay away from it. DH's kidneys and

bladder are trashed, and the main culprits are these drugs (OTC and prescription!)

for joint pain, according to the nephrologist. They catch up with you after awhile.
