I have a wonderful, loving, 20+ yo cat. We've had him about 6 yrs and he adapted to being a house cat, as opposed to his life as a semi-wild barn cat, amazingly well. He's been on thyroid med for a few years and it's been great. He became even more finicky with food and generally less active in addition to weight loss so we took him to the vet fearing the worst. It turns out he's diabetic so it's treatable. I'll leave him at the vet for a day so they can do a series of doses and tests to determine his ultimate dose which we'll need to learn to inject 2x/day. I was so relieved it wasn't kidney failure, which was the first thing the vet and we feared. It's very preliminary, but I'm hopeful the treatment is successful. He's a very strong cat.

I've been reading a lot online and would so appreciate anyone with a diabetic kitty sharing experiences. Especially any dietary suggestions. I want to be able to have good questions for the vet. Thanks!
