Re: facebook birthday fundraisers

[ Edited ]

I haven’t done one, but if it’s for a cause I support I don’t mind contributing. It’s better than a gift grab. In fact most of my kid's birthday parties we ask fo canned food for the food pantry or items for the animal shelter. So no big deal. Donate or not and move on.

Nope bad idea to have your birthday on yr profile so people can see it , I made up a fake one and it’s not made public

Re: facebook birthday fundraisers

I’ve contributed to two.  In both cases, the people having birthdays were relatives of mine, and I understood why they chose their charities.

I didn’t feel like there was any pressure.  Give if you’d like to...otherwise don’t.

Its certainly nothing like a “gift grab”.  The birthday person gets nothing, personally.

its a good idea and an easy way to "give back." i dont donate to all of them, but yes, i have donated to some. i do not mind these at all and it is my choice to donate if i choose. nice to see the different charities that friends are passionate about.

its a win win situation.

I agree.  No one is being forced to donate.  It's just a suggestion, and I think it's nice when people designate specific charities.  Many very good causes have benefited greatly from this, so I see it as a positive.

I think this, people can do what they want and I've seen them but I don't give or ask anyone else to give. (DH and I give to charities of our choice, all year long)

Re: facebook birthday fundraisers

I think they're outrageous.

If I normally give a gift to a friend and one year they request a donation to a charity instead I could see that.  Otherwise forget it.
