Always use composted manure-- I use it in my vegetable garden and I put it over the soil around March and then I turn the soil over before planting my cold season veggies (lettuces). After lettuces, come peppers and tomatoes. I had an abundance of 'Black Cherry' tomatoes through almost October!! Be sure to side dress your veggie garden with compost or composted manure again during the mid summer to give the veggies the added boost needed to produce veggies.

Neither have I. Miracle Gro is all I use.

Thank you everyone.
Guess I will stick to the chicken. Off to farmer's mkt and then to the nursery.
I have put compost into my veggie beds and add the potent stuff. wait a few weeks and then plant. I only use organic products on my gardens.

This so reminds me of my young son one year when I was spreading chicken manure. He was three or four, playing nearby and when he came over to me he said "phew, sumpin stinks". I said, "oh, that's chicken manure". He said "did a chicken been here"? One of those things I will never forget.

two peas, that is so precious! Those gems stick with us forever. I started writing a few of them down so the kids will see them when I am dead and gone.
