My ex-BIL is an expert on Asian art. He is on the show quite often. They have to pay to be an appraiser. They do get good business from being on the show.
That's very interesting.
They make money with someone that wants to sell the item or look into the provenance. I just recently found that out. I too find it interesting.

Sweet Olivia, too bad he is an Ex-bil. I would love to chat with him otherwise.

I never miss it. When people bring their antique furniture pieces and they're told they date from the 1700-1800's, I drool. How I would love just one piece of furniture like that!
This past monday night, a man had a map dating from the 1500's. Amazing.
One episode a woman had a jade collection given to her by her father, if I remember correctly, and it was valued at over one million. I don't care for jade, but I think I could have gotten quite fond of that collection if I had it.

Yes it is...... Why don't you get that channel anymore......???? Do you have a dish, or are you with a cable company. It is on our basic package here......every Monday night. They have 2 shows on it, and prior to the Antiques Roadshow, they have a 1/2 hour show of the British show (similar to AR, but not as good)......

I guess it's a hopeless situation---we have some pottery, and, I hate to say, some 200 year old carved ivory from China---it would be interesting to take some of that stuff---I don't think they will ever come to Colorado Springs---here there is a lot of "pioneer" stuff
sylvia......and I would wager you some of that old "pioneer" stuff is worth some money too.

Yes I do. Don't have anything worthwhile or old. I am a first generation American so nothing was brought here. Plus I couldn't afford what some people buy.
