do you groom your dog yourself?

My little Daisy is getting very shaggy these days (Brussels Griffon). I hate to take her to the groomer, she hates it. I would like to do it myself and save us both some anxiety. Anyone here do their own dogs with the clippers and all? Any advice would be appreciated. The groomer I use is fine but Daisy just hates the whole experience. I thought if I could kind of do it in stages or something it would help her.
