I'm not sympathetic to the plight of those who don't have disposable diapers.  I never used one when my son was a baby.  I used nothing but cloth diaper and didn't find washing and drying the pre-folded ones to be a burden.  Disposables are a terrible burden ecologically.  Everyone should be using cloth.

@Kachina624  You do know how bad air conditioning is for the enviroment, right?

@Lucky Charm. Not mine I use an evaporative cooler which has no coolant or compressor. Besides AC is pretty much essential for life in many places.  Disposable diapers are not.

So you use nothing disposable?  Paper towels, plates, napkins...etc.

@Kachina624

And did you make your own sanitary pads using old cloth rags so they could be washed and reused?  Or did you use disposable ones?

@DottieBlue.  That's not a practical solution to that issue.  Cloth diapers are.

New York City did not have a lot of laundromats.😳🥺 And I doubt it would be appreciated by the fellow customers if I was washing dirty diapers in a public laundromat.😳🥺

@Trinity11. I kept my dirty diapers in a covered bucket with a water/Clorox solution.  When I washed them, they had been disinfected and even had no odor.

If you are returning to work after maternity leave and putting your baby in daycare, you are sending the baby with disposables.

Cloth diapers are for privileged people.

Our local news station is advertising donating to a diaper drive here in PA.

I donate many boxes of diapers to the Salvation Army every Christmas season.  I order them from Walmart right from the Salvation website and have them delivered to them directly.

I had two babies in diapers at the same time and used a diaper service.  It was very cost effective at the time.

I know that cloth diapers are better for the environment, but many poor mothers have no way to wash and dry diapers and they can't afford disposable diapers, so they  are not changing their babies as often as they should.

Cloth diapers are also expensive.  It is expensive to buy them and you need about two dozen or more of them to start out with. Then you need laundry soap and you need to wash them often.  If you have no transportation to the laundry and no washer at home, this is problematic.

In this country as well as in other countries hygienic and sanitary products are not affordable for everyone.  Many people go without.

Government programs will help and provide food, but not cover diapers, feminine products, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and laundry soap.

If you ever stay in a hotel and get the small sizes of soap, shampoo and conditioner, you might consider donating these items to the food bank.

@Kachina624  I just remembered you mentioning your Swamp Cooler before.  Good to know NM isn't suffering and harming the enviroment!

@mspatmac. Because there is so little we can discuss, we're  grasping at straws.  Any minute this thread will probably disappear because it's  either unkind, political, or argumentative.

@Kachina624

Great point!  It amazes me what small points can be discussed for pages and pages.  I hope you're preparing for the discussions about the Barefoot Dreams TSV tonight.  Take care
