diaper donation

[ Edited ]

Greetings fellow posters!

I live in the Seattle 'burbs and one of the local radio/television stations is advertising that some organization is havng a diaper drive, for obvious reasons.

But I don't remember the station or the organization. Can someone help me out on this? I remember being on a long flight when my son was a baby and guess what happened? I didn't have any more diapers! I noticed a couple with an infant so I explaing my problem and they quickly and kindly let me have a few.

I tell this story to illustrate that people can run out of diapers and I'd like to donate to this organization. If anyone can identify it for me, I'll be very grateful, as will a little one who needs britches.

TIA :-)

I just googled it although I do not live in Seattle. It's the King 5 news station.  Just call as @Mz iMac  suggested!

I looked this up for the heck of it and found out something I didn't know.  There are a couple hundred diaper banks around the country.  What a great idea !  We seem to be too rural to have one, but I may suggest this idea to a local organization.

you should be able to find diaper giveaways/banks locally.

even shelters often need them for families.

i know we have them in baltimore.

I know there's a place in town here that gives out free diapers to those in need.

I belong to a neighborhood FB page and one of the members is involved with a local diaper bank.

She will post when they are having a drive, will pick up the donations and will take open packages.

I'm not sympathetic to the plight of those who don't have disposable diapers.  I never used one when my son was a baby.  I used nothing but cloth diaper and didn't find washing and drying the pre-folded ones to be a burden.  Disposables are a terrible burden ecologically.  Everyone should be using cloth.

@Kachina624  Well, bless your heart, I thought I was the last one left that had fond memories of laundering diapers. I used cloth with both my daughters and hung them to dry on clotheslines outside. When my first was a baby Pampers (or some disposable) came to be but they were stiff and scratchy so my decision was made. If I had to do it again I probably would do the same.
