defrosting freezer

This apt has an older, dinosaur fridge and I hate defrosting the freezer but the time has come. Fridge turned off, pan of boiling water sitting in freezer, door open. Wish this would go quicker. My fridge in Michigan is only 10 years old and no need to defrost.
