Sorry- couldn't think of a more clever thread name.
I'm looking at Etsy (a very "dangerous" site for me- LOL) and specifically at cutting boards where they can laser a handwritten recipe on to the cutting board.
I'm thinking about doing a few of these for Christmas gifts and wondered if any of you have ever ordered one of these before, either from Etsy or anywhere else.
I don't have a ton of recipes in my mother's handwriting, but have a few and I have a cake recipe that my mother in law wrote that I'd love to do and give a cutting board to my two stepson's and my husband's two nephews. I think it would be really nice to have something like that.
And then give a few to my side of the family. Again, just wondering if any of you have done this, what you thought of the finished product and if had a vendor you'd like to recommend.

I bought one of these at a local craft fair. (This image is from the website, it is not my personal cutting board). I had my own quote about wine and cheese that I had her laser on it. It opens up to contain tools to slice and serve cheese.
I really love it and I gave one to a family member as did one of my cousins and everyone loved them.

I have a 5x7" cutting board that is similar to this one. It was made in PA and I bought it at an arts and crafts show. It is made of corian and I use it on a daily basis. I have a second corian board without handle that is 10x12" and I use it for larger cuts of meats and fruits. I love these boards and they last forever.

I've seen the Corian cutting boards at craft shows here quite often. Who knows, it could be the same vendor, as we have vendors from several other states at our craft shows, especially around the holidays.
I've always wanted to buy one. Maybe next time I'll pick up a small one to see how I like it.

Topaz, There is a large arts & crafts show in central PA in early October. It's a three day show at a famous park (KG) near Elysburg That is where I got my boards. I'm sorry that I can't recall the name of the vendor; however, I know they make boards in various sizes and shapes including fruits and animals.

I'm so excited. I picked a vendor on Etsy and sent him a message asking him if he thought a recipe I have from my mother in law would look ok on the cutting board. He had me send him the picture and he laid it out for me and sent it this morning for me to see what it would look like. I love it!!!!
I just ordered 4 from him. 4 Christmas gifts done!

As I understand it, the laser application would be to wood. Is this cutting board meant to be for decorative purposes only? The reason I ask is that it would be very difficult to remove what is left behind after cutting, chopping or slicing roasted meat on a cutting board that has been incised by laser. Just my two cents worth.

It's lasered to the wood on one side and you use the other side for chopping.

What a unique gift, Gidget. I'll have to give this some thought.
