sorry, another thread got deleted so fast, but a poster was asking "who eats pizza with a knife and fork?"

i was going to raise my hand.....sometimes yes, i do eat my pizza with a knife and fork, especially if it is chicago style deep dish OR if a regular pizza is too hot to hold. i never eat pizza by folding it.

Eat pizza with a knife and fork? I'be eaten hot/warm and cold pizza, including: Deep Dish and Double Crust Plus. All were eaten in the same manner. Pick up a slice in my hungry little hand(s), and start eating.

Too hot? Just like hot soup and hot Chile, move some air across it for however long it takes to suit you temperature pallet, and then? Monja/Monja, Monja!

NY City style pizza is thin with a crispy crust. The crust is too brittle to eat with a knife & fork, which is why the locals fold it and eat it by hand.

Here in Buffalo our pizza is more like Chicago style, but some places also have NY City style pizza...so sometimes we have to wait for it to cool down to eat by hand or use a fork until the cheese cools. The NY City  thin crust pizza is always eaten by hand - the crust is more like a cracker.

Hand, fork, shovel ... as long as I get it in my mouth I don't care how I eat it. Smiley Happy

New York Pizza - the real thing is dough they mixed and keep in metal rings to keep in together and then tossed and shaped and rises. it is not cracker thin !

it has a hard baked crust but a bready underlayer

New England Pizza is made with a cracker crust. its awful.

Growing up in suburban NYC, we folded pizza.  Thick pizza or Sicilian was cut in squares small enough to hold.  We never used a knife and fork.

Re: comment about pizza.....who made it on the other thread?

A Chicagoan here. Our pizza is cut in squares, as stated here previously, so no folding. We do not eat pizza with a knife and fork, unless it is deep dish. That is practically impossible to eat without silverware. The only time I use a fork with thin crust, is when my husband makes it at home. Sometimes it's a little saucier, so some of the toppings do fall off the crust. Instead of picking up what's on the plate with my fingers, I use a fork to eat every last bit!

Re: comment about pizza.....who made it on the other thread?

Years ago when I was growing up, there was no such thing as "Chicago style, NY Style, etc"..... It was just pizza without any trimmings.

We lived in NY and went to Luigi's and had pizza.  That was just sauce and cheese.  THAT was real Italian pizza and nobody ever used any utensils.  We picked up a slice and folded it and ate it.  I don't ever remember it being so sloppy that we got "stuff" all over ourselves.  Maybe a spot or two of sauce dripped - but whatever........................

Times have changed - and so has pizza.  I even remember calling up the local Italian restaurant and ordering it by the slice, because it was cheaper that way.  If we ordered 8 slices, we ended up with a whole pizza but we paid less.  Those were the days.......

I used to be hands-on, but after burning the top of my mouth enough times, I've switched to knife and fork.  Ironically. used to tease my Dad  for that and now I'm doing it!  guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...eventually.

The thing about cutting a pizza in squares is that the pieces from the middle are left without any outer crust. That would make me Woman Sad
