Networks report from war zones -- they are used to being in dangerous situations and know when to get out.  If you've listened to their reporting they have said that they've moved locations to be in a safer spot, or they get out of an area when the camera goes to another reporter.

It's their job to report the news and they are also trying to report to people in the path of Irma so they have updated info as well.

@sueinsf  This is true but I think the theme of this thread are those out there in the midst of the worst of the storm.

It is necessary to keep people updated but it is difficult to watch them trying to hang onto their hoods and doubled over to center themselves as the winds pummel at them.  Plus some of them are barely audible at times.

Those certainly can't be the safer areas.  It is difficult to watch for sure.

Needs repeating.

This is true of all reporters representing all networks and news agencies in these hazardous situations.   It's an interesting topic, though...   why all the agencies place  reporters in harm's way, and whether the benefits to the viewers, listeners, readers outweigh the risks.

Oh yeah.

The interweb has noticed Chris 'It's A GunShow' Cuomo.

Brave.

Intelligent.

Handsome.

And he takes off his shirt for social media.

What's more to love? Ha. 🤓

Very uncomfortable to watch and listen to, @Cakers3.    I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, or to be in the role of deciding who is going to be out there in the dangerous elements.sad face  I hope they do this with at least some counsel from the emergency management authorities and rescue agencies.

I think the reporting is very interesting. With each hurricane, they gain more knowledge and can let the public know. There are incredibly stupid ppl out there, folks. They have no idea the power of wind and water. Loads of ppl don't realize this, they can't comprehend the force of water bending steel, they don't understand how deadly it is. By learning the strength of hurricanes, they can put into place better regulations to allow structures a better chance when a strong hurricane comes along...and it will.

If you don't like the coverage, I'm sure your TV has other channels. Me? I hate water and am terrified of it. Tropical storms and hurricanes seldom make pit stops in PA, thankfully.
