banned books week 9/27/15-10/3/15

banned books week 9/27/15-10/3/15..... i am going to make a point to pick up one or two of these books! i have read two from the top ten 2014 list (second link). i have read Persepolis (also see the movie if you can) and The Kite Runner.

From Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, the American Library Association (ALA) promotes banned books. This isn't done just because librarians are trying to raise Heck, though we all know how rowdy they can be.

No, it is to remind us that censorship still thrives and some people try to stop others from reading what they want. The list of the most frequently challenged books might surprise.

The list of banned books is compiled after people write letters or file complaints with libraries or schools, asking that books be taken out of circulation because they find them offensive. The ALA is careful to not claim this list is all-inclusive because they reckon that for every complaint filed, many are not.

Excellent, @sunshine45! Thanks.  I'm going to share this idea with my friends and family, too.

I can't imagine why The Kite Runner was banned.  I thought it was a fantastic book.
