OP, why on earth do you still have a landline phone?? I reluctantly got rid of mine years ago and it was THE best thing I've ever done. I get absolutely NO unwanted calls.....none. I really don't feel sorry for those who refuse to move up with the times. You don't have to be bothered by spam phone calls you know.

@ID2   Speak for yourself. I get spam calls on my cell. I go through the calls every few weeks and have to block these calls. And I do feel sorry for you who doesn't seem to understand why people have a landline. It has nothing to do with moving on with the times.

I used to work from home so I needed a landline phone but I also have a cell phone. I preferred to keep my landline phone still get unwanted calls but they also come on my cell phone. Doesn't matter, the scammers will still try to take advantage of you. .

@ID2  no one asked you to "feel sorry" for them, OP was only stating an annoyance.

@ID2,  I rarely use my cell but am constantly getting spam calls and even worse, spam texts.  Fortunately, I can set my phone to only accept calls from my contacts so the spam calls aren't a problem.

I seldom get spam calls on my landline but I even have that set so it only rings when a call comes in from someone in an allowed group.

As to why I keep my POTS landline it is because in my area cell service can be spotty and non-existent during periods of severe weather.  I have only lost landline service once in 13 years and that was due to someone hitting a distribution box with their vehicle and destroying it.

Not everyone lives in an area with a lot of cell towers or  uninterrupted cell service.

Sounds like ur getting SCAM calls. They use people's names, company names or just "unavailable" - each call has a different phone number. It started last Monday thru yesterday - around 10+ calls thru the day. Called Scam or Robocalls. I'm on the Do Not Call list - doesn't do a thing.

I have no way to block these calls on my landline.

We had that happen to us a few weeks ago. At one point they were calling (from different numbers) every 15 minutes. We turned off the answering machine and just let it ring for several days.

We told friends and family that the answering machine was off so they wouldn't think they dialed a wrong number. With CoVid 19 we are home most of the time anyway.

The number of calls have greatly decreased, but now political calls are starting up, even on my cell and I don't hand out that number to anyone but family.

I got 2 of those "Apple" calls this afternoon.    (Yes, I have a landline.....I live in a mountain range, and cell is spotty at home.)

There are some gig-work jobs you can't get if all you have is a cell phone. You need a landline. I think you can skate by with some employers with VoIP, which is what I have, but not cell alone. THAT is keeping up with the times we live in.
