Started at Tiner's Drive-in as a carhop in 1950 at age 12. Worked every job inside and outside, including being the manager 1 night a week. This was the biggest in our city and where all the teens living on the north side of our city liked to "drive-thru" to show off their "wheels"
Worked there till I was 17, and as a carhop making $.25 per hour, still made over $100 per week with tips. In the 1950's that would be equivalent to about $2,000. Was frugal then and have never changed.

Drive in movies!!! As a young child, the family would pile in the car, take sandwiches/drinks and enjoy the American (in English) movies!! As a teenager, everyone from our high school would park in row 10!!! It was one big party...jumping in car to car! No one would have dared to "neck" there - everyone would have seen the action!! LOL...such fun!!

We also still have one by me. Although back then it only had 2 screens, now they made I think 4 or 6 out of it. We always stop and get a pizza and big drinks from the 7-11.

drive in's
movies oh my goodness sure do remember them. my family of 6 could get into to see a movie for $5 bucks. the car may have been uncomfortable but at least you got to see a movie. my mom would complain the whole movie about the mosquitoes and bugs, at least we got to see a movie LOL.
remember the eat in car drive in's. our family would do this sometimes for sunday's night dinners. it gave my mom a break from preparing food for us. remember the trays that use to sit on the car windows. oh my, i remember that, brings back many memories.

Don't nean to brag but in our area we still have 3 drive-in movies. A funny story. When I was in college, a guy took me to a drive-in for a first date. When he attempted to get "friendly" he was rejected. He immediately started the car and drove me home. I joke that it was the shortest date in history.
