adopting a puppy

We just committed to adopting a puppy. He is 8 weeks old and a Bichon/Shih Tzu mix. We will get him Saturday. Anyone have any experience with these dogs? We have 4 other dogs and 2 cats and used to raise Yorkies. The breeder says these dogs are very loving and playful.
