activity ideas for period of shutdowns

[ Edited ]

since museums. schools, libraries, theaters, concert halls, etc are going on a virus hiatus to help stop spread, i'd love others' ideas on what people will do to fill the days outside of regular television and reading.

i know i will tap into my BritBox add-on at Amazon Prime Video. i intend to enjoy some British mysteries and perhaps a re-watch of the old James Herriot vet story "All Things Bright and Beautiful."

i have watched a little Acorn TV too.  are there any other channels people recommend?

i take a course or two on line and may do more of that.  anyone else?

i did just get an e-mail from a local theater that says it is now limiting ticket sales to 50% capacity to enable social distancing as well as touting its cleanliness regime and ventilation. sounds good to me.

any other thoughts? it would be great to make this period more fun.

Not really thrilling, but I bought a adult coloring book and colored pencils.  Also bought myself a Nintendo DS.  I also plan on walking a lot in the fresh air.

Spend more time on my Spiritual side and so some reading and reflection.

Watch ALL of the BBC tv version of Pride and Prejudice with COLIN FIRTH!!!  And drink tea and eat digestive biscuits all the while!

@Warrior2022  which coloring book looked like fun to you? walking more would definitely be good - for cardio, for fresh air, for a little trim-down for me.

When not working:

Walking

Exercise at home (assuming the gym is closed)

Catching up with people by phone

Spring house cleaning

Work on a craft

Purge unwanted clothing and HH goods

Cook & bake

Wash the car inside & out

Clean out the closet

Clean the yard of winter debris (weather permitting)

Start working on a big jigsaw puzzle or a craft project you never got around to starting.  Teach yourself to crochet.  I learned from a book.  I plan to do some serious yard work as Spring seems to have sprung here.  Need to weed out winter clothes and store away.  Grab the dog and go hiking if you're able.  This is a busy time of year, lots to do.

Two acres of yard work are in my future.  We plan on rebuilding a limestone retaining wall and planting bushes in front of it.  Also replacing 15 boxwood shrubs that line the driveway.  Hope we complete our mission this summer.
