It seems to appeal to my generation of males the most.  It's just a no holds barred blood fest and I'm like amazed this is not illegal.

There was a guy in my family who tried it.  He went to a competition in Ohio and the other guy wiped the floor with him.  Thank goodness it was over quickly and there were no permanent injuries.  First time I saw him after the event I just shook my head and didn't say a word, probably because my face said it all.

Yeah, friend of a friend decided that was his life goal.  Trained and everything, went into the cage, got his leg broke in several places and he was done.

@Northray  Not sure how old you are and you do not have to say.

However, I have males spanning 3 generations and they would not watch this.

I don't know about this being legal but when we have shows like "The Purge" it doesn't surprise me that violence is tolerated, even admired.

I would never do it and I won't judge those who do it.

Re: Your thoughts on MMA fighting....

Luckily the men/women I’m associated with do not like this ‘sport.’

I do think a lot of it is ‘acting’...men/women will sacrifice

a blow to the head/knocked out teeth for an $$ paycheck.

Their life is that limited.

But I also think there’s lots of drugs involved...’Roid Rage.

As for people like this activity?

It’s the same mindset as people watching all the negativity

with those reality shows on TV.

So much negatively.

So much ugliness.

Really messes with the mind.

It’s not a ‘good look’ to be associated w/ this activity...IMO.

Late twenties.  It seems to be legal, sportscasters talk about it like they are talking about baseball or something.  It's been going on for some time.  Every time I see it, I can't believe there is not some kind of protest about it.  IF ever one was needed.  Because it demeans our society not to mention the brutality that the gladiators,Woman Wink I mean, fighters endure.

What we are tolerating in the name of entertainment is like you said, on some level, messing with our minds.  I've never known a time when it wasn't like this but just when you think it can't get worse, it does.  Remember I was little when the first official reality show came out, Survivor, and my parents were all like this isn't going to last, lol.

Re: Your thoughts on MMA fighting....

this is just my opinion. back in the day, it was wwf, hulk hogan, and the like. same sort of fan frenzy, oh, and let us not forget roller derby. same thing, frenzied fans.

well, this mma fighting is the same sort of mentality, but kicked up a notch.

i find it disgusting personally. i just can't fathom watching two humans BEAT each other, a sport. Bonus points for blood flying.

UGH! No thanks

It’s not a huge appeal to me but I’m not appalled by it.

Re: Your thoughts on MMA fighting....

I love it. I've always loved boxing and my ex husband was a national collegiate wrestler and martial artist. MMA just rolled it all into one and it's not the same as it was when it first came on the scene. Back it the day anything went and they fought till one fighter was incapable of going any further, no limits specified. I couldn't watch back then but now they have regulations in place just like any other sport.
