I didn't realize I paid so much. I have low co-pays and my medications, when needed, are pretty cheap at just $5 each bottle. I pay $15 to see the doctor.
Even though it seems pricey, I am thankful for it. In 2010, I had emergency surgery and would have died without it. Because it was an emergency, I didn't pay anything. The cost for it was more than $150k.
@Shaunac . Sounds like a bargain to me! I wish my permiums were only $550.00 a month and $15.00 copays!

My DH is on medicare, but my Kaiser HMO is going up to a $1000 a month for 2018. Recently broke my hand and even though I only used them, no ER or anything they keep adding charges above the co-pay they told me I would owe. I paid that co-pay the day of out patient surgery at their facility, no hospital, but now they want me to pay crazy amounts of money. According to my evidence of coverage, I should at most owe 20%. Even their own billing specialists can't figure it out. A year ago it would have been a flat fee. Can't begin to tell you how much I hate Obama care!!!!!!!!!!!!

Total for the two of us is $1100.00....I sure hope it doesn't go up in January!
ETA: I feel screwed compared to most of you and I actually can't wait to turn 65!!....two years to go!
@haddon9 I feel your pain, four more years for me and I hope I last that long! . . . boo.

I pay approximately $30 biweekly for medical insurance for myself, spouse and newborn daughter. I pay the same amount whether there's 1 person covered or 10. I have BCBS and a family deductible of $500/yr. I have very good insurance. I also pay $6/mo for dental insurance for myself and spouse.

Your numbers are in line with my employer's family plan. However, I think we get better than "so-so" coverage, but that's just my take on it.

$34 monthly for both of us.

My husand and I pay $1100 per month for medical/dental/eye. It is thru his employer and the return is not near what we pay out! Ridiculous! And thats with BCBS of Arizona! $13,200 per year! Blessed that we never go to the doctor....but that amount is crazy!

I'm retired, on Medicare with which I have an Advantage Plan. The only thing I pay is the standard mandatory Medicare charge. My supplemental plan is free for me and thus far has always paid 100% of my medical expenses. I've never paid a dime, even with major surgery.
My insurance for myself has always been free from my employer and it's had excellent coverage. I think long ago, we had a small deductible but never any co-pay.

I know someone who is a realtor and must pay for her own insurance. It's $1600 a month for her and her husband. I don't know her insurance plan/policy.

Before I retired from full time work, I paid $853 per month for my husband and me. We are now on Medicare, and have a supplemental plan which costs us a total of $220 per month.
