Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

[ Edited ]

We pay nothing. In addition, DH's employer gives him the the majority of the deductible  as a perk. Our deductible is very high so it's a nice perk.

That said, it covers everything 100% once the deductible is met (which usually happens in January). As per COBRA, we would pay just over $10,000 a month if we wanted what we have now in the event DH lost his job. We are a family of five with one child who is disabled.

Yep.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

@Sue98...my girl friend 64 yrs old...her share per month is $400.00, employer pays $400.00  It is BCBS and is good insurance.  I don't know her deductible.

My dh is on Medicare, his supplement is $162.00/month plus his drug plan.

I am 62....good health, my insurance went from $500.00 in 2016 to 800.00 in 2017 and I saw the premium was over $1000.00/month for 2018!  Who can afford that?  It was GREAT insurance but I went with a Christian Health plan..$301.00 month/$3600.00 deductible.  It covers NO preventitive tests, blood work, etc. but I am healthy and taking my changes until I am 65.

Good luck --we are all getting #@$% on health care.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

My company subsidizes a large portion of the premium, but (understandably) moreso for the employee than for a spouse who does not work for the company.

For just me, including medical + separate dental and vision, and including a discount for not being a tobacco user, it is $152 per month.  If I added my spouse, we would pay $420 per month.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

I'm covered under my husbands plan which is $208 a month, only deductble is $20 or $35.   Doesn't matter how many in the family cost is the same.  But this is the railroad so it's under union contract.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

When I was employed, just for myself, it depended on which plan of 3-4 offered you chose. I always chose a plan with the least cost to me, some type of HMO. For nearly all of my working life, such plans cost me zero monthly premiums, it was an employee benefit. The last maybe 4 years of working, employees began to have to share the cost of their benefits, but between health insurance, vision and dental, I think I paid about $20-$30/mo for all of it; I was lucky, and I didn’t have to pay for a spouse or child.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

We pay about $182 every pay period for two adults and children. (PPO) That does not include dental or vision. We also get an HSA credit of $1500 a year to help cover out of pocket expenses.

$5000 max a year per person then it covers 100%. Family deductible is $10,000

Before we reach that we pay 20% in network and 30% out of network.

I pay around $400, not sure of the exact amount, between Medicare, Senior Advantage Plan, and dental insurance, for just myself.

Re: Your monthly cost for health insurance?

Before I turned 65, which is almost 2 years ago, I was paying over $1000. And that was Kaiser an HMO.
