I would be leery and concerned as you are. But the group as been in existence for over 75 years and is world wide in many countries. The US group as their own website and the requirements for being a member and their history as well.

I don't know much about them. I would say to keep an open mind and trust your instincts. If not them, I hope you find new people to hang out with and things to do. Good luck in your new place. Moving to help an elderly parent is really an honorable thing to do.

Members of any sort of group are the same in group name only...not all bad or not all good. Ordinary people, just like the rest of us. I don't judge.

I have had a fair amount of exposure to various gangs through my work consulting with law enforcement as a therapist. Hells Angels have charters all over the world. They are independant and operate on their own. Some charters refrain from any illegal activity, while others operate as crime syndicates. Most law enforcement agencies are of the mind that members carry out widespread violent crime including drug dealing, trafficking in stolen goods, extortion, and prostitution. That being said there are some charters that contribute positively to their communities. Were I in your situation, I would not seek to engage and would avoid the area, but my guess is you should be fine if you steer clear. Good luck!

I was unable to modify my response to include that there are instances where local law enforcement have enlisted the help of Hells Angels for activities such as crowd control despite their status as a criminal organization.

Those particular bikers had their NYC club a few blocks from where I grew up.
There was never any trouble on that street from them or on that particular street. You only heard from them when they started up their bikes.
In fact, when the neighborhood was riddled with crime, I'd walk down that street because I knew no one would have the stones to pull any stunts on that block.
They moved out several years ago, and to be honest,
the neighborhood is still sketchy, even more since the pandemic. I miss knowing the motorcycle club isn't there anymore.
You'll be fine. MYOB.

I don't really see what the issue is.
As others have mentioned, if you don't go looking for trouble you probably won't find any.

When I was in my 20s & 30s, I worked part time in a drug store that was close to an Interstate. I live in South Dakota, so when Aug rolled around and the Sturgis rally was going on, we got tons of bikers thru our store for supplies. I will have to say, they were some of the most polite, friendliest people you'd want to meet. I always looked forward to that time too just for the people who would come in and of course seeing the Harleys. Some are beautiful.
And just like any other type of group of people, there are good and bad.
I agree with the other posters here that if you don't bother them you shouldn't have any problem.

Near me there's a chapter that fundraises for Toys for Tots, various food banks and homeless organzations.
My father road a Harley when I was a kid and hung around with some Angels. They were always kind to me.

In our area they are very involved in charity. Please do not judge people before you meet them.
