@Mistreatedbycs

No, I don't go to my state fair. I've been a few times; it was boring and all they had was junk food!

I love my State Fair in Syracuse, New York!! For the past several years my best friend & I have gone every year. A couple years we went twice.

I love everything about it .... the food, games, free entertainment, going to the dairy building (the butter sculpture, 25 cents for chocolate milk, homemade fudge!!,

huge cookies, ice cream, etc), the home building (beautiful homemade quilts, etc.), people-watching ... Just love it all!!  :-)

Our state fair is in Sacramento - much farther than I want to drive through, and to, an area that is hotter than Hades and humid. The local county fairs are pretty much a joke to me.

I grew up, and went for many decades every year, going to the LA County Fair - the largest county fair in the country. I loved it. My favorite food used to be strawberry & whipped cream Belgian waffles when Belgian waffles were not known anywhere outside the fairs. Texas donuts. Down & dirty tacos. Batter-fried zucchini.

Life without Mexican food is no life at all

Throwing all calorie thoughts to the wind, Funnel Cake, piled high with sprinkled powdered sugar!

You are awake for three days from the sugar!  Woman LOL

I used to enter a lot of needle point/cross stitch and lo and behold, one year I won the the huge purple ribbon for Grand Prize competing against all categories of entrees. Woman Surprised

@Moonchilde~~~I'll have what you are having except I am giving all of the fried zucchini to you.  That's the kind of girl I am!  Woman Happy

Congrats, cherzum, for winning the top gold ribbon that year! You must have been so happy to win!

I know...that's the one day I eat anything and everything! Love the goodie you mentioned with all the powdered sugar! I made sure I wore a light-colored top so all the powdered sugar didn't show on me! I love the chocolate walnut fudge too! Oh my!

Do you or anyone here remember the state fair movie with Pat Boone?? I always loved watching that movie during the summer when it was on the channel that showed the older movies.

@EastCoastGal~~~Awww, thanks a lot!  Yes, there are tons of entrees, so I was surprised, but pretty thrilled about it.

I haven't seen it in years, but yes, I do remember Pat Boone's movie.

Ohhhh, the fudge, I forgot about that!  The chocolate walnut sounds delish and I always love the peanut butter too!  Ahhh, the good old days!!  Woman Very Happy

@jackiejenny...the chocolate walnut fudge was just last summer! Lol. My best friend and I go every year. We both love going but we don't go on weekends...way too many people!

I'll say good night now. Very late here on the East Coast.      I thank you and truffle for welcoming me back! So very kind of both of you!  :-)  I'll watch for you both the next time I'm posting.

It's probably been well over 30 years since we've been to the fair. And it's less than 30 minutes from home.

Its crowded, hot, and stinky. I'm an indoor, air conditioning person, lol.

"I've been here since October 2006. Wow!"
