When I read something like this I can't help but think back to the plot of 2001: A Space Oddysey ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey_(film) ) along with the impact human error had on the HAL 9000 and the results of the errors. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_9000 )

Yeah, the Cylons back story is very interesting and I believe can actually happen in the "near" future = Amazon Echos (fetus cylons )
Also, the last 30 minutes or so from the movie A.I. could very well happen.
