Your Favorite Travel Coffee Mug?

Hi Coffee Lovers, What's your favorite travel mug? We have a few Contigo brand mugs--which have lasted a good long time. However, one of them has the color enamel scratching off and I may need to replace it. I don't mind spending the $$ on a good quality one (the Contigo ones are around $18-20 each.) But there may be something less expensive out there that works just as well. My DH uses a travel mug very single day so this is a very important topic for us!Smiley Happy TIASmiley Happy

I use one received as a gift when I pledged to public radio. No real complaints.

Re: Your Favorite Travel Coffee Mug?

I like my Contigo travel mugs. Because they really keep my coffee hot all morning, I drink less because I'm not always topping it off just to warm it up. I'm trying to limit my coffee consumption to 2 cups/day, so one mug works for me. I sound like I'm trying to sell them, don't I? I also like them because the seal is good & if I knock it over there's no spillage.

I used to have a Thermos travel mug with a stainless steel lining which also kept my coffee hot all morning. I haven't been able to find another one with the ss lining so I don't know if I just didn't look in the right places or if they don't make them that way any more.

Re: Your Favorite Travel Coffee Mug?

I don't drink coffee so I consider mine a travel tea mug.... but I think the contigo is the best! I've tried a lot of brands with varying degrees of success. The first contigo cup I got was actually a kids one for my then 3 year old. When I saw how well it held up without spilling anything I went back and got an insulated one for me lol

Re: Your Favorite Travel Coffee Mug?

glmama, my husband kept losing my expensive travel mugs. I picked one up from 7-11 when I got some coffee. It was $2.99 and the coffee was free.

It's one of the best mugs I've owned!

It seals nicely, so the coffee doesn't come out when I go over a pothole.

It fits perfectly in my car cup holder.

It's easy to clean (ie, it doesn't retain the coffee smell).

It's well insulated. It keeps my hot coffee hot and my iced coffee cold. I can hold a hot cup of coffee in my hand with no problem.

It holds maybe 10 ounces of coffee plus cream, maybe 12. The size in ounces are on the price tag.

It fits perfectly under the Keurigs when I remove the drip tray.

It's slightly weighted at the bottom so it's difficult to knock over.

Get your flu shot...because I didn't.

I have one fav that I use for my decaf tea. It is a 20oz insulated mug from 7-11, from almost 20 years ago, that has the 49ers logo and NFL logo on it. It was a 'thing' back then. But it's still my favorite. It's not particularly attractive, but it works great.

Tervis mugs are the best. They are made in the USA and you can get them in several different sizes and many, many styles. I have several Disney Cruise ones that I purchased as well as sports themed ones. I love them!

Contigo for traveling and Tervis are the only ones I drink out of at home.

Thanks for all these replies, everyone. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Looks like Contigo is the way to go--or at least a popular one here.

I agree with some posters who mention their 7-11 mugs or other traveler mugs that have held up better than expected. Sometimes it's the things we don't expect to last that do and vice versa!

Mima & Bichon-I have heard and read many great reviews of the Tervis containers, too. We have a few similar ones for water in our house. Come with straws and tightly fitting lids.

Honny-I will have to check out my local coffee/convenience store mugs!

Re: Your Favorite Travel Coffee Mug?

What a timely thread!

I'm looking to replace my Contigo mug. The one I've used for water for years got dropped & sprang a leak. The one I use for coffee is still going strong.

I'd like to get 2 or three mugs. A spare is a good idea when you use them every day.

I got my mugs from QVC. I wonder who has the lowest price for Contigo?
