I am looking for a low calorie dairy free milk substitute for my cereal and to use in recipes ( I won't be drinking it by the glass). I have tried soy, cashew, and almond milk, can't say I am a fan. I know there is rice, oat, and coconut milk which I haven't tried. I usually drink skin milk, which of these is close in taste to skin milk ( I am aware none will taste just like the real thing)?

i drink unsweetened coconut. it's pretty much tasteless, but i'm so used to it that i like it. i drink oat too, but it's kinda up there in calories, so i drink it very seldom. it has more taste than the coconut variety i drink daily, but not much more

I use plain, unsweetened almond milk (not sweetened or vanilla flavored...a couple times I bought those by accident). I don't drink it....but use it on cereal and in recipes. Works for me.

@Jordan2 I have often used almond milk (not vanilla except for the one with honey) and cashew milk with good results in cooking and baking. Don't think you'll find anything acceptable if you did not like almond and cashew milk which are the tastiest. Skim milk is like water with really no taste so maybe rice milk might work for you since it is rather tasteless and thin. Oat milk can cause stomach issues.

Right now, I'm using Planet Oat.
Btw, if you have a Stop & Shop in your area, their Freeday offer is a pint of Planet Oat dairy free frozen dessert.

@Jordan2 - my mom cannot drink milk or eat ice cream but apparently yogurt is not an issue for her. She has a big blob of nonfat plain yogurt with her dry cereal every day and has for years and years (decades). Maybe that might be an option?

Milk upsets my stomach, yet I can have ice cream, I only use it in my coffee, i rarely eat cereal, I use two tablespoons of International Delight Fat Free french Vanilla in my cup of coffee, my hubby loves it in his iced coffee

I use Mocha Mix for my cereal.

I use unsweetend vanilla almond milk to make oatmeal. It's surprisingly delicious! I top it with unsweetend berries and some chopped walnuts and it tastes like dessert.

One that I like is Fairlife. It is lactose free and comes in nonfat. To me this tastes like real milk. I use it for cereal and making smoothies.
