People are too self-involved to pay much/any attention to other people on the street, much less what shoes they are wearing. Can't imagine anyone taking the time to then judge someone based on their shoes.

The shoes you describe sound like athleisure shoes and they are not meant to be high fashion shoes. I put them in the same category as Birkenstock; they may not be beautiful but there is something about them I like anyway.
