Interesting question. I've often thought of writing a children's book on working with certified therapy dogs. We had two dogs (at the Bridge) who were certified therapy dogs and worked with people of all ages (ages 5 to 105) and in all venues from day care centers and schools to assisted living and nursing homes plus everything in between. DH and I, and the dogs who loved doing therapy, shared many rewards for doing pet therapy as a ministry for nearly 12 years. It's difficult to put into mere words just what Anika and Brodie meant to the people we visited every week. Suffice it to say they brought a lot of smiles and a few tears to the people they served.
The title of my book would be "The Gifts and Blessings of Certified Therapy Dogs."

@chrystaltree, oh please, do that now. There's no time like the present. You might have some wonderful things going on in your head, and people could share or read about your thoughts.

'Oh My Gosh'. or 'Looking Down' (referring to the texting era). p.s.: I first thought texting 'generation', but it's safer (for me) to say 'era' instead.

I think I would take a humorous approach to self knowledge and borrow a saying I heard once. My title would be YOU CAN'T TURN YOUR BACK ON YOUR FACE. It's about owning who you are.

I'd have to write the book first and then title it. I have reams and reams of diaries and journals over 25 years that I would have to go through first. I think of lot of it would be aimed toward the toxic people I and my children have encountered in our lives (many) and I would make it fictional. Some of the fiction would be what we should have done, not necessarily what we did.

@gracie2014 wrote:@sfnative Thank you. I just returned from a meeting with the FDA in DC..about a month ago...they are working on a new medication..looking to do clinical trials..It was put together by the American Porphyria Foundation...right now one of the cures is a liver transplant...but that is a pretty big step..got the chance to meet other porphyria patients who had traveled abroad for clinical trials which didn't work and the folks who went with liver transplant..which ended up being quite successful...National Porphyria Week is in about two weeks...hopefully the media will cover the disease and the progress made with the disease.
When you use the word "cure" relative to a disease like Porphyria, we should all stand up, take notice and cheer. This is really outstanding news! I'm so pleased for you and those who suffer from this disease. As you know better than anyone else, it's been a difficult road getting drug companies to pony up the bucks into research for diseases that do not affect "x" % of the population.
All the best to you on your road to a cure for a personal cure.
