It's for a male adult of 65 years old. The invitation clearly states, in bold print, PLEASE NO PRESENTS! All I need is your PRESENCE!
Do you bring a gift? Yes or No?
PS Please no suggestions of candles or chocolates or a bottle of wine.
Thanks, I need your feedback.

Absolutely not. But the funniest card you can find, YES

I think what I would do is make a donation in the birthday boy’s name to a cause that is near and dear to his heart.

No @sunala I would not since that was the request. Think more than likely he just wants to have a good time with all and not have to send out thank you cards. If I ever got a invite with the phrase "gifts encouraged" I would take one so not doing so should be fine too. Have a great time and know you are saving him work later.

Respect their wishes and do not bring a present.

Nope but if it's the kind of party to bring a little something for the food and/or bar, I would take a little something to contribute to the party not him.

If it were me, I would just get a card for him. It clearly states no presents. I have someone who I am close to and when her daughters had her 80th bday party they also told everyone that no one was to get her anything and just wanted her to enjoy the people in her life, I got her a gift card (small amount) from a local bagel shop that I know she goes to every Sat. But if it was someone I was casually acquainted with, I would just do a card.

Honestly, I really hate when someone throws a party and requests no gifts. It puts so much stress on the people you invite.
I would just invite people for a party; and when they come and see it's a birthday party, there wouldn't be an issue about gifts.
Some people feel you should respect the person and not bring a gift and some people still would bring something. It's just awkward...

I would bring a birthday card with a gift card to a store or a restaurant you know he likes
