@libbyannE wrote:Why watch? I have never seen the woman that you describe, but I tune out as soon as an ad appears. I can’t imagine wasting my time watching a commercial, so I don’t understand why you do it, only to be annoyed. Makes no sense.
If you watch TV without a DVR you cant avoid them they pop up so frequently on network and cable channels....if you grab the remote to avoid them where ya gonna flip to...and even if you do that, you might miss part of the actual show you were trying to watch in the first place......![]()

@GingerPeachthis I believe is Maye Musk, Elon Musk's mother
You're right, @ANewHue, she is Maye Musk.
When I looked up the commercial, I saw her name but didn't connect it with Elon Musk. Today I checked further and you're right about her being his mother, too. References say she has been modeling for most of her life (as you probably already know).

What gets me are all the ads for medicines. The people are always dancing and walking with a lilt. There’s a disco tune played in the background. The actors have big smiles on their faces. These are usually the ads for diabetes medications. There are also the ads for biologicals for autoimmune conditions such as RA, psoriatic arthritis, Crohns and colitis. These actors are depicted as happy-go-lucky. They can get back to their lives again. Never mind the shocking list of devastating side effects the ads just breeze through. Make sure you don’t have an infection. You might get TB. Some lymphomas have occurred. You might be unable to fight infections as your immune system is
compromised. No worry, just dance around. Spend thousands a month and risk lymphoma.
Then there are the ads in which very sick people are playing with a child. These ads are usually for cancer medications. I’m assuming that the child is supposed to be their grandchild; as if all of the happiness in their lives revolves only around grandparenting. The narrators in these ads use a somber tone of voice. There’s no dancing.
Life is great. Take our drugs. Dance. We here at big pharma are here to help. There’s little risk, and just to protect ourselves, “Ask your doctor about it.”

@Mindy D Brain washing America... It’s nice to know others feel the same way I do about Big Pharma.🤨

Liberty Mutual has had some good ads recently but "Big Calves" isn't one of them.
The commercial that's been annoying me lately is one for an app called BetterHelp, an online counseling service. In it, a woman experiencing anxiety and panic attacks releases the heavy emotions that have been weighing her down. They (the emotions) all come crashing down noisily in the bathroom sink and on the floor.

There's a toilet paper commercial. A father is showing his daughter how to shave her legs. He's sitting on the edge of the tub all lathered up and shaving his legs and she's up on the sink counter.
But what gets me (other than the fact that the commercial is supposed to tug at our heart strings about where the mother is, or what happened to her) is that he's shaving in downward strokes.
I always shave upward. Downward is just weird to me. I dunno, maybe everybody does it different.
But he cuts himself (that's where the toilet paper comes in (clever?). Maybe someone should've taught him to shave in upward strokes.

@hellie jo I can't stand those Peleton ads either, the "music" is an assault on my ears.

@Lucky Charm I shave upward also but the man in the commercial is correct. You are actually supposed to shave with the direction of the hair (downward). I've heard this from many dermatologists and experts.

I too can't stand any of the offenders mentioned BUT I do give a tip of my hat to commercial where they somehow got the whole football team of young men to let that little fella score a touchdown. I tear up everytime I see that one. So sweet....too bad we don't see more like that one.
