Thank you everyone dearly for thinking about me. Heart

Still no power here. Just had a friend drop off his gas generator so that's what I'm using to see this forum. Heaters are also plugged in but no fridge or hot water.

They say we'll get power restored by tomorrow. It has been a terribly cold and boring past 3 days. I'm so thankful that my friend is helping me out with his generator. These last 3 days have got me rethinking about the things I need to do around here to help me if this happens again. I'm thinking of getting a gas generator of my own. Plus a battery backup for my wi-fi router. I can get by for a few days with just those things. But after that I think I'll just have to check in to a hotel room...LOL!!

@SilleeMee    Glad to hear you're okay.  Maybe you ought to start watching those boring Halo presentations?  I like the hotel option..... with room service.

Much of Northern NM is without power, including Taos.  Everything closed including schools.  Not much snow, just wind downing power poles.

@Kachina624

Thank you!

This latest storm got me really thinking about how really vulnerable the power grid is all over the place. Couple that with the aging infrastructure and that spells disaster on so many levels. After being w/o power for almost 4 days, I just cannot trust our utility company with providing us with reliable power. I have done some serious thinking about what it's going to take to keep me safe in the future which doesn't involve the city utilities. Going to invest in generator of some kind and also a large battery backup for my electronics (router + laptop). I need those to stay connected and to stay warm plus save my pipes from freezing.

@SilleeMee  Well glad to hear you are OK.  Yep that was one heck of a storm.. I thought we had 40mph winds but the paper said in our area we were 80mph.  Only problem we had is a bench blown over by our pond and a tarp blown off one of our wood piles.

We were lucky our power stayed on...but...a few thousand in town had no power for over 24 hours.

@Kachina624  We were in northern NM today shopping..no Lowe's...Sams...Holly Lobby...Harbor Freight...or beer supply stores in our little town so we go south about once a month.

Stay warm @SilleeMee ...take care...DW

@dancingwoman    To Farmington?  That's the only place that might have those stores.

@Kachina624   Also on the way back by the Animas saw a bald headed eagle.  Always amazed by those beautiful birds...DW

They seem to be everywhere nowadays.  What a thrill it is to see one!  They say they're in our Bosque by the river but the only ones I've personally seen were in Colorado and Alaska.
