Yesterday I heard 2 different responses to the rain-both endearing:)

Yesterday when I went into (WalmartWoman Happy) , the rain had stopped.

When I started to leave it was pouring!

I heard one elderly lady say "lordy lordy!"

and that made me smile.

And just in the other lane coming in was a little boy about 5 yrs old singing "rain rain go away, come again some other day," skipping while holding his mother's hand.

And that made me smile too because I thought how sweet that mothers still might teach the songs so many of us learned while growing up.

And my response, ok a third one was "I didn't say it could rain" which I thought funny but all the employees looked so tired and stressed I don't think they heard anything or were in the mood for any dumb comments-all of a sudden it was as crowded as Christmas in the store because I think people thought the rain would hold off.

My father used to sit on the benches on the boardwalk doing what he called "people watching." And I used to think, how boring! but now I totally understand.Woman Happy

And I was brought up to say:

I didn't order this (the rain) did you?

@on the bay I so love that some children are still taught that little song.  Classics never go out of style.

I love rain especially thunderstorms.  I love walking in the rain.

The other day I was in the LL Bean store & found they had the old fashion yellow rain coats, hats & boots for children as well as for adults.

Daughter's xmas present is already wrapped.  Daughter grew up playing in the rain.  Not so much my GS.  He's a nerd & thinks he'll melt. Smiley Embarassed

OMG! ONe of our favorite things our mother let us do was play and run in the rain! We loved it and so neat to hear you did that too!

haha you can tell what generation-we always said "neat", then there was "cool" which I can barely have myself say-well, that's a story for another day lol!

@Mz iMac My DH hates going out in the rain too.I always ask if he's afraid he'll shrink.I don't mind walking in the rain if you have the right gear on.I always remind my DH that we aren't homeless so at the end of our walk we can dry off.

@on the bay @Mz iMac Then after playing in the rain we got to make mud pies!!  What fun we had back without electronics.
