Drawing them into areas where people live is dangerous, for both humans and animals.

It's illegal here in WV.

I'm only guessing that hunters can't hunt everywhere. Near homes and developments, etc.
I guess they wouldn't be good pets, even if they were corralled on a person's property? I don't know.
'Anyway', they are precious.
Let's all wish O/P's area is protected from hunters and gun fire.
You can hunt with a bow and arrow, and many do here close to my house. I'm surround by woods.

@ID2 wrote:Hand feeding wild animals does a HUGE disservice to that animal! Sure you are gaining their trust but you are enabling them to not be fearful of humans. That's NOT a good thing. It's bad enough to bait deer but to hand feed them should be criminal.
It is illegal, everywhere, I have 2 or 3 sleeping in my backyard every night, but they feel safe because, my yard is surrounded by trees and bushes. I never feed them.

Awwww! I have friends who live in Ontario (Canada). His sister and her husband live by a heavily wooded area in the middle of nowhere. They get calls from vets and their police all the time to take in fawns if the mother has died. The deer live in the wooded area but like clockwork, they come up to be fed 2 or 3 times a day. If I'm remembering correctly, they were bottle fed. As they get a little older, they will eventually quit coming and figure out how to find food sources on their own. Several years ago, I was visiting my friends and they took me to their house and I got to feed them. I had tons of pictures but managed to lose them somehow.

Beautiful photos. I have to admit that it would be a thrill to feed them and I would be tempted to do the same. As a compromise I think I would just put out food. The family of a girl my son used to date were hunters. They would hang a bag of food from a tree, wait until the deer came around, and then shoot them. That method totally disgusts me. One of many reasons why I am glad she is an ex, lol.
That is not "hunting" and is totally illegal not to mention immoral. They would lose their firearms and hunting privilege for years and possibly do jail time.

Breaking the law and bragging about it and then asking for no lectures is all About entitlement. Who in their right mind does this?
Feeding wild animals who are not starving, especially deer is slowly killing them and reducing their numbers. You are messing with their digestive system and possibly causing them to suffer. Educate yourself!

@CrazyDaisy In the fall, during the rut, those beautiful, gentle bucks can become very aggressive and dangerous. Every year I hear about one attacking someone. I wouldn't want them around.
