Re: Yes, Another Mask Thread. Open at Your Own Risk!

I think the more rules the better.  Pretty soon not wearing a mask will be as popular as smoking.

Here in MI the gov reinforces the message with tweets and TV ads.  Sometimes she even snarls a bit for emphasis--it's funny.

Nope. My governor will not do it, some of the mayors of larger towns in my state have made mask wearing mandatory, though.

My area was about 80-90% compliant when it was recommended.  It seems to be remaining at about the same rate but the number of people with medical issues that prevent wearing a mask has skyrocketed.

I have a suspicion that those with medical issues will be coming out of the woodwork.

Just like those who bring their dogs into food stores because they're "therapy dogs".  A few months  ago,  the stores finally posted signs "only service dogs with approved paperwork" are welcomed in store.

Now, sadly employees have become responsible to stop those without masks & I feel for them because they are really getting "verbally" abused.  My thought is management should be doing the "mask enforcement".

Agreed.  Management should act like Management.

If someone actually has a medical condition keeping them from wearing a mask, then they are also at a very high risk with the virus, so they wouldn't (or shouldn't) be in public places to begin with.

So ridiculous how these "karens" are coming out of the woodwork with fake medical conditions.  One can only hope that karma works in this situation.

If we have to wear them we do...DH cannot keep his nose covered...and when he went to the doctor's office last week they mentioned covering his nose, he told them no...and they just replied OK!

I wish everyone in this country were as sensible as most people on this forum. Let's just do what we have to do and keep everyone safe. It's not like we have to give up a limb or our first born. It's not political, it's not about our freedoms, it's about our health. So let's man and woman up, do what we have to do, quit being wusses, and hopefully this will be over sooner, rather than later. Just my opinion.

It's been a mandate here for awhile, however I am seeing more and more people not wearing them.

Someone at our briefing today asked why we had to do this since we're not AZ, FL or TX.  The Governor responded with, "They didn't think they were New York and now look what's happened."

Exactly!

Small population South Carolina certainly didn't think they were New York either, and look where we are.

Your Governor is very smart to try to get ahead of this. I keep wondering why we are not being more proactive instead of reactive. If you see the numbers trending up, then button it up!

Yes! Exactly! Remember way back toward the beginning...we were told to take all the precautions in order to avoid lots of cases. Fauci said that, if it seems like you are going way overboard with safety measures, that means you’re probably doing the right things. You don’t wait until things get bad to be careful. You are careful so things don’t get bad.
