was born with a illness proven to be caused by genetics?
The reason I ask is there is a lady in our community whose daughter was born a year ago 3 months premature and with a massive heart defect. The doctors said that it was congenital.
It was very unlikely that the baby would survive being born 3 months premature and with heart problems. The community surround her in prayer and donations so that parents could afford the life saving surgeries she need and miraculously she just celebrated her first birthday last week! The whole process was heart wrenching for the parents.... they were told everyday of the her first couple weeks not to expect her to live. They kept up a blog that they updated daily from the hospital so the community could keep up with her progress and pray.
When they were first learning about the disease, they were told that any more children they may have would most likely have the disease as well. But as they mentioned in the blog, "future children were the last thing on their minds". Until now that is..... with their daughter turning one they also announced that they are expecting again. They are the hot button topic of the community and they have received alot of disparaging comments on their blog....
What do you think? Is it selfish of them to have another child given what they firs one went through and what the doctors say?
