Re: Would you complain about this?

It's noon here on the east coast and there had been no banging all morning. Well . . . I spoke too soon, she just started again. It's definitely on the bedroom and bathroom walls, both of which back up to mine, and it's uneven, so I doubt it's a rocking chair or exercise equipment. It's really strange. I'm paying closer attention. It sounds exactly like she's hanging pictures.

My daughter will be over here later, and if she's still doing it, I'll ask my daughter what she thinks it is and what she thinks I should be doing about it. I always had such quiet neighbors! Now it's not only annoying, but scary. Who would do that every day for months?

Is she doing some sort of craft that involves building something? A weaving loom perhaps? I have no clue what else that would be.

Re: Would you complain about this?

YES!! I spent the last couple of years living beneath the most inconsiderate neighbors..I complained to deaf ears. One of my neighbors finally suggested I call the police..! Especially if the noise goes on in the evening and management won't help. Btw, when my neighbor called the police, they said they had received a complaint, anonymously~ This was about a loud stereo in the middle of the night! My bf is moving into a retirement center and she has lived all her life in a large home. I told her she'll now have people above and below..and most older people listen to TV on loud..I know, I used to care for people who lived in those centers. This is serious..there's nothing worse then having your sleep disrupted when you have to get up early for work!

I would talk to the neighbor before going to management. She may not be aware that they are making so much noise. There could be a reasonable explanation for it (that is, she's not necessarily crazed!)

I have hesitated to go to the Manager because she herself runs hot and cold. I have never complained about anything, don't have a car here, so never got involved in the "parking lot wars" . . . I can think of nothing I have ever complained about and I've been here since the building was built, over four years ago.

I'll just wait and see. Maybe she has a lot of "nail pops" and thinks she needs to bang them in every day. Anyway, it has stopped for now. It's not like it's driving me crazy yet. If it gets worse then I'll have to say something.

Thanks for all of your comments, some of them very funny. I'll let you know "the mystery" once I find out what it is! Smile

Re: Would you complain about this?

I'd walk over to the apartment, introduce myself to her, welcome her to the building, and then politely bring up the noise problem.

Perhaps you could ask if she was remodeling and how long it would take. That way, you'd know what the issue is and if it's time limited.
