Mima, I would do a $30 gift card. (A prepaid credit card from AE or the local grocery chain).  Max budget, max flexibility on how it is spent.  Especially as you don't know who will receive it.

 

The mugs are a good gift, but I have two favorite mugs and use no others.  I think others may be the same.
