I've been to one of those shows. There was a club in San Diego where a hypnotist performed and people would get up on the stage and act like farm animals or pretend that they were naked. I knew a couple of people that volunteered to go and knew they were faking it. The hypnotist didn't care; he was there to put on a show.

They told me it would be a "clean" show and not in bad taste. It will be in front of an audience, so I'm sure the show will be funny. I'm a good sport that way. I think I'm more scared that I won't really be hypnotized and I'll look foolish. He did say some people can't be hypnotized and that is normal.

I don't think they are choosing everyone in advance. I am friends with the general manager of the place where they are having it. I told him a couple weeks ago I really wanted to do it. I didn't think anything would come of it. Well the GM told me I could do it if I wanted to. Now I'm chickening out. But I really want to! LOL

I knew someone who was a professional hypnotist for a law enforcement agency. When called upon he would hypnotize someone who could not remember details of an incident due to fears that blocked their memory.

Some people are good candidates because they are more able to accept suggestion. Others can't be hypnotized for the same reasons. Unable to accept suggestion.

In his profession children were easier to accept suggestion.

He demonstrated with some adults in our class but not for amusement. A good hypnotist will suggest that you don't remember what you said/did while ""under"". It prevents harmful thoughts from recurring.
