Re: Would seniors please share what you do for dental insurance? TIA

I use DentalSave - it’s not insurance but rather a discount plan.

My plan is free and is included with my Florida Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Plan.

I don't have insurance. My dentist charges me $100.00 for cleaning and check up. I have no idea what I will pay when I need dental work. Woman Frustrated

I have the same MetLife dental plan that I had when I was working, though now the group rate premium of $35 a month comes out of my pension rather than my old employer paying for it.

I self insure.  Even when I was working and my employer paid half the premium, the insurance cost me more than my bills at the dentist.  He was the dentist who advised me not to bother looking for a plan when I retired and so far, he's been right.

But ..  there's always a but, isn't there?  My teeth and gums are very healthy so I'm the perfect patient to self insure.  No idea how that works for those with serious dental issues.

I have the same insurance I had when I worked (Metlife) and my company pays the same portion of my premium that I paid when I worked.  Its ok - I do that the $1000 cap (doesn't apply to cleanings, xrays, etc) - so my dentist can only do things like replace one crown a year, etc.  He priioritizes.

We have Humana Dental. Last Time I was in I had a cleaning and xrays and everything was covered, no cost to me! I'm very happy with Humana.

I'm retired and buy my dental insurance through my employer pension plan.  It covers the two check ups per year and close to half of any other work.

I have Humana dental.  $23/month. Fortunately, at 70, I have teeth in good shape.   Covers 2 cleanings a year, $50 deductible and I think $1,000/year maximum.  At the very worst I figure I break out even but I think it would help if I needed extensive work.
