I said nine words to my oldest daughter during a very toxic and devastating family situation several years ago that she created. Nine words that she will never forgive me for saying. The situation is over now, the damage done, the family split. I am left with profound regret for what I said in anger and frustration. She should never have done what she did, but I should never have said what I said. Ties are truly and permanently severed. A day does not go by when I don't agonize over what I said.

Words matter.

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Elie Wiesel 1986
