Word to the wise and un-wise..... Bamboo is a strong, but...
it is one of the cheapest items on the building market because
bamboo is a sustainable product. That there is NO shortage
and some bamboo plants grow 6" inches and more a day...
If you lived in a tropical area bamboo could be referred to
as a weed... A problematic weed...
It annoys me to see that item made with bamboo being sold
for more than triple the landed price..
;;
Landed price is the price a company pays for an item when it
arrives into their country from other parts of the world...
:
I once was in a furniture store and saw some furniture and
saw that they had a sale on some items and even with the
sale, the items were 8 times more than the landed price..
:
I know..... I saw the invoices....
:
We know those companies have to make some profit but do
not let them gouge your eyes out because YOU do not know
Spend your money wisely

Bamboo the running kind is being banned right & left in many communities. Investigate the clumping varieties before planting as a privacy screen.

A moment ago a folding table made with bamboo & steel was shown

Price $120.00

:

If they sold it for much $Less..

:

They could make a profit..

Re: Word to the wise & Un-wise!

I lived in a rental house where Bamboo was rampant. I would take roundup to the running shoots and they would just pop up elsewhere. I was told a former owner used a backhoe on it and it didn't stop it. Do yourself and neighbors a favor and don't plant bamboo.

you can plant it and contain it........you just have to know how to plant it......first you dig a very big hole and drop a concrete cylinder down inside the hole and back fill it........fill the center and plant the bamboo......since the runners hit the concrete wall, it doesn't spread..........bamboo is a grass and sends out runners just like Bermuda grass does.......to keep it in one spot you have to contain it.............................raven

Many times the concrete cylinder will break over time due to the pressure of the roots against it. Ever see a sidewalk crack over time from tree roots?

Advice: don't buy it, don't plant it! Period.

Do the environment a favor and stop using Roundup.

Seriously I can not believe they sell this stuff to homeowners.
